Whoever buys this Surf City home gets a designing woman

More than $10,000k in tropical landscaping.  New windows, new doors, updated kitchen and bathrooms. New paint job inside and out.

And, oh yeah, this 1,176-square-foot, ranch-style house comes with “free design tips” from the owner, Kathleen Arch, an interior designer. Or potential buyers can negotiate for the decor that’s in the home now.

“I do everything out of the box,” says Realtor Cheryl Coleman.

They knocked down the price in September to $689,900. It was at $729,000 in July.

“Everyone who comes in loves everything about it –except the size,” Coleman says frankly.

Most of the recent sales in the neighborhood, a few blocks from Central Park and the wetlands, have been $513,825 - $745,000, according to Redfin.

Wow… by my calculations that’s $587/sq ft. Don’t these people know we’re in a housing Depression?

It’s been on the market for 151 days according to Redfin.

$689k for a SMALL house with no pool? “free design tips”? Have you seen the pictures of it? YUCK? looks like the set of the “Golden Girls.” No one should pay over $550k for that!

    • Shutterbug says:

I wouldn’t buy the house for the price, nor would I take decorating tips from the owner. It looks like a nautical nightmare.

A decorator stuck in 1992, karate chopped pillows in a small, overpriced house? Pass.

Grew up in So Cal. For me it’s about location. Short of being on the beach in Sunset this house next to Central Park is in the best spot in the town.

    • Travis says:

What a beautiful home. I love the location being able to walk to the beach and Central Park. Great Beach house - love the decor and yard

    • rachel says:

I LOVE THIS. For someone like me that loves the beach this is perfect. Good price for this neighborhood too. I love Central park. It’s about time someone did updates before they sell. Who has time for a fixer upper.
