Barbara Delgleize has served on at least two public commissions in the past. She also spent years chairing Realtor governmental affairs committees, been active in the local Chamber of Commerce and has been a member of the Business-Governmental Affairs Task Force.

But on Tuesday, the former Orange County Association of Realtors president will start her first term as a member of the Huntington Beach Planning Commission, one of the most visible appointments in city government.

Councilman Don Hansen announced last month that he had picked the longtime real estate agent and broker as his appointee. Delgleize, who attends her first orientation meeting today, will be one of two new faces on the planning commission.

The seven-member planning commission reviews proposed building plans and advises the council on growth and planning issues. All commission votes are subject to approval by the full council.

Delgleize, a current member of the OCAR board, was association president in 2005.
